Definition from Oxford Dictionary

diet (di·et, /’dīət/)

noun

  1. the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats.
  2. a special course of food to which one restricts oneself, either to lose weight or for medical reasons

verb

  1. restrict oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in order to lose weight

When you shift to a plant-based diet, you are changing your diet in the sense of the first definition of the noun.

The kinds of food that you, (a person), habitually eat now includes more plants. Hooray!

This may mean you eat only plants, all the plants, mostly plants, or just more plants than you used to eat.

Yay for eating more plants!!!

In general, the whole-food plant-based recipes on this site will fit the following guidelines:

    • Whole Grains
    • Vegetable
    • Fruits & Berries
    • Legumes
    • Nuts in moderation
    • Healthy herbs

Some whole-food plant-based recipes on this site include the optional use of cheese or other minimal use foods. Most often the recipe would be fine without, use is based on preference.

Other recipes on this site will be nowhere near whole-food plant-based because our family chose to transition our diet to somewhere between “mostly plants” and “just more plants than we used to eat.” This website also serves as a source for our family and friends to find old, not-so-plant-based favorite family recipes.
